We finally got the call from Florida!  After two more agonizing months since the end of the federal-wide hiring freeze, we were beginning to toy with the idea of staying here - that maybe the lessons to be learned were all in the preparation, and besides which our house was already sold so we had to find somewhere to live.  On Friday I called and told Florida very seriously that I was done waiting, and said if I hadn't heard anything in a week, I was going to withdraw my acceptance.  My incoming supervisor pulled some strings, I got the firm job offer on Monday, with a start date of 24 July.  Florida, here we come!
